Going Gray

Our meeting with the colorist last night was reassuring and beneficial. We're pleased with the results. The best stuff he told us had not so much to do with color actually, but about a new way to paint the pillars in front - using them "graphically", instead of using multiple colors on them - and about smart ways to use different sheens to highlight the house's few architectural features.

The colors below don't show very true through the iPhone and computer screen, but needless to say, he concurred with our intuition about going gray. Goes well with our shingles, driveway, front walk and the neighborhood in general. These colors are *in* the surroundings, and the red door would go with the brick facades to the left and right of us and *bring out* the red in the brick of our decrepit front stoop.

Tempest (the body color) - sort of a gun metal - has a tinge of blue in there which makes it more interesting and "blended" than the gray we chose previously.

What do you think? Would you go with Dinner Party or October Mist on your front door? October Mist is sort of a light-gray-green-sagey color.

Thanks for your vote, Brandini! We are going with dinner party doors.
