Blue Rock Dust

Hey there, peoples. Hope everyone is doing well. We had a majorly busy and majorly productive weekend. Here's a synopsis.

We had a nice dinner out on Friday night. Saturday, we got up early and got some paint at Home Depot. Sue worked all day on painting the upstairs bathroom.

(The picture with the mirror in it is more representative of the robin's eggish blue color she chose.)

I went out and got a rainwater barrel in Exeter, RI, from the Rhode Island Water Lady.

Then, while Sue was working upstairs, Chris (the handyman) and I removed the backyard fencing, ordered some new fencing, and we went to get two tons of blue rock dust to grade the front lawn.

We moved a lot of heavy shovels-full Saturday afternoon, and that was some hard work. We think though that it worked out well. The blue chipped rock tamps down to a solid layer, and after we added about 6-8 inches of that behind the front bushes and around the side of the house, we started digging into the front lawn (to lower it) and put a bunch of the front yard soil on top of the layer of rock.

Sunday's weather was incredible, so we planted a couple neat shade shrubs on the side of the house (Valley Valentine, Purple Gem Rhododendron)...

...and we planted a boxwood in the front corner of the lawn. It's a gamble, since the snow plows may crush it with a bunch of snow next winter, but we'll see.

Tomorrow we'll share some more exterior paint colors for your consideration, and later in the week, an update on the subject of ProPil Pop Quiz #7. Off to the dentist for me.

PS
The Ocean State's quirky weather persists. It was like 58 yesterday afternoon, and this morning it's 34. It's apparently going to rain an inch this afternoon.
