8/8/08

Happy 8/8/08, happy Friday, happy Olympics, and happy three-day weekend to all our friends in Rhode Island! For some reason, we get Victory Day off on Monday.

We painted the half-bathroom purple last night. It's looking good, and we'll be taking advantage (in a way) of our holiday Monday by tackling the tiling. We'll definitely take pictures of the process, and we'll be hoping your tiling effort goes well, Brandini and Jess.

For fun, these are great pictures Sue took while riding the Orient Point-to-New London ferry last weekend. Beautiful.

PS
We're currently listening too loudly to Dry the Rain by The Beta Band, and we highly recommend it. It's a riff Lenny Kravitz may one day steal -- like the scoundrel he is!

What the hell is Victory Day?

When I lived on Strong Island I took the Orient Point to New London ferry many times each year. It is a great trip even just for fun. Back then one of my favorite parts was pulling into New London you could see all of the huge Nuclear subs on the Groton side of the water.

Last week I flew to Boston from DC for a up and back trip. Flying up there I convinced myself that looking down out of the plane I saw that very same sub-building facility while flying over what I deemed to be New London/Groton.

I like to think that I am good at recognizing geography from above, but I don't really know if that is true.
