Mental Might

We hope all the mommies out there had wonderfully special Sundays. Sue and I celebrated our second wedding anniversary, and we appreciate(d) all the well wishes.

Friday night we went to Ri Ra, and we watched the first two periods of the Capitals/Penguins game. Wow. Great hockey. (Game six is tonight.) Then we saw Franz Ferdinand. Lupo's is a pretty neat venue.

Saturday early we began the painting process. Our bedroom had been in urgent need of a paint job, but there's urgent and there's urgent, so it was backburnered for quite a while. And after doing a bunch of early morning preparation (moving most of the furniture out, covering stuff with plastic, etc.) we went to a neighborhood yard sale, stopped at a computer recycling drop-off event (discarded Sue's college laptop), and headed 45 minutes south to Kingstown to University of Rhode Island. Their ag/life sciences school was hosting a festival/sale at their 70-acre research facility. Pretty neat. We bought a cheap rhododendron and ate some kettle corn. The kettle corn was so good, we joked it had methamphetamines mixed in. On the way back, we got a new bush for the front yard.

At the festival thingie though, we learned that out burning bush out back is dead (or 75% dead). We are now faced with cutting it back 75% or removing it. The scratch test of the bark indicates no life in the un-leafed limbs. It is not coming back. We are feeling bad about it. It's not 100% for sure, but it's probable that I killed it. I have placed an axe at the base of the old bush.

Once we got back, it was painting painting painting (and planting the bushes we picked up). We finished at 5:30 Sunday, then went and got ourselves some anniversary pho.

Gotta love it when previous owners paint a room, but can't muster up the mental might to move the radiator. Gotta love the old wallpapers, too! Ha.

The painters are coming back today. Weather's supposed to be nice. Have good Mondays!
