Applying Puddy

To replace the euonymous, we have ordered an amur maple. It's a similar type of tree/bush to the euonymous - needing to be trimmed as it grows toward tree shape. It only grows fifteen to twenty feet high, making it suitable for our wee little yard. Should arrive in a couple weeks.

Here's a pic of the tree from Jonathan's backyard.

We called our painters last night. They weren't here yesterday on account of the sporadic rain storms, but we're sad to report we've noticed a bit of a problem with the paintjob. On the back, where the primer and finish paint have been applied, we can see spots of puddy. Tom Brady said he'd handle it.

The painters have been applying puddy to the holes caused by the nails that hold the clapboards (AKA longboards) to the side of the house, and to any imperfections, nicks or scratches on the wood. This is good. It keeps water and moisture from collecting in those holes, and it helps keep the nails in place. For whatever reason, though, we can see the puddy through the paint.

Part of the issue may be that a gallon of this Aura paint costs $60+, so perhaps they are trying to conserve the finish paint to maximize their profit, for which we don't fault them at all.

Anyway, fingers crossed. Happy hump day, peeps!

PS
Caps/Pens Game 7 tonight. Should be a great one! This is old, but I can't see it enough. MVP! MVP! MVP!

From the WaPo today: "If the first six games of this series are any indication, it's likely Bylsma is right -- tonight's game will be decided by one play late in the third period or, perhaps, overtime -- because the series has been almost impossibly competitive. Five of the six games have finished with one-goal margins, three of them in overtime. Only three times, at any point, has a team held a two-goal lead, and neither has led by three goals. Both teams have led at least once in each game, and the teams have been either tied or separated by one goal 92 percent of the time."
