What a Week

Happy Friday! What a week. It feels like a month ago the Redskins got unexpectedly stomped on Monday Night Football. In other news, Sue started at the VA, which is turning out to be harder than she imagined. The election transformed the mood of the country. (There have been many powerful opinions written since, but here's one I found most memorable.)

Today and tomorrow, some good high school buddies of mine are headed into town for Eugene's wedding up in Boston. I was a little worried, but it doesn't look like we'll be needing the radiators to work; tomorrow it'll be 63-degrees. Eugene and his bride-to-be, Kat, are doctors up at Mass General. Should be a good time.

Also, I updated Primordial Mounds. Sadly, the Maitake went kaput. An enokitake post is yet to come.

Since Sue is now working at a different place, when we drive in, I get dropped off at a different spot. On my walks, I've been snapping what I think are some pretty neat pics. In the first one, note the beautiful State House (According to Wikipedia, "The dome of the State House is the fourth-largest self-supporting marble dome in the world, after St. Peter's Basilica, the Minnesota State Capitol, and the Taj Mahal.") and the encroachment of abundant graffiti.

According to John there is some trend that when the Redskins win before an election than the Republican candidate will win (or something like that)... so we were rooting for the Steelers all night. :)

Yeah, you're right. I think it's no longer a streak, or the Bush elections forced the networks to change it from something nice and simple (Redskins' last home game loss before election = incumbent party loss of White House) to something clunky (Redskins' last home game loss before election = incumbent party will lose popular Presidential vote... which as you know does not yield the White House). Ha. Anyway, here's an article about it: Snopes.
