Splines and Screens

Sunday and today were pretty darn good. Weather was perfect-o-mundo, and we got a bunch of stuff done around the house, as well as relaxing and doing some fun holiday weekend stuff. We also had a disappointment.

We had a fun time with Sue's classmates this afternoon at a potluck, and also yesterday at the Pawtucket Red Sox game against the Lehigh Valley Iron Pigs.

Today, we started putting up our beloved dartboard. We had to install plywood over the sheet-rock wall next to the basin. Sue's muscle proved invaluable.

We also bought and employed new splines and screens. Our back porch was missing one screen, and another was badly damaged. You can see where the screen was missing in the first pic in Remedial Roofing. Second panel from the left.

Now we can sit outside without bugs and leave the door open when we're cooking to air out the kitchen. One of our thoughts was to slap some exterior finish (if that exists) on the butcher block table and benches we bought on Craig's List, and put them on the porch. Does anyone know if the table will stand up to the elements? Uncle Lou, do you know?

(That's not our house, but it is the type of table and benches we have.)

We also spent a good long time visiting stores to find curtains for the half-bath. This was disappointing.

The style these days is apparently to have long curtains, but for a bathroom, that doesn't make sense. Between us we visited Macy's, Urban Outfitters, IKEA, Linens and Things, Bed, Bath and Beyond, Pier 1, Crate and Barrel, JC Penny, Restoration Hardware, and Pottery Barn. Looks like we're going to have to make some, or settle for something like Venetian blinds.

Happy September!

Something white with some splash of color -- lime green or red or we dunno. Thanks for sharing this site! We'll check it out!

Bring your darts to the wedding - there are dart boards in the after hour pub - we can have a married couple throw down.
