Door One Day

Happy hump day, peeps! A few things:

A) We're preparing for a holiday weekend of massive (but relatively cheap, thankfully) home improvements. Since we'll have an extra day, we're aiming to put flooring, walls and baseboards in the basement. We'll also reaffix all the PVC and test the radon system.

It may not look like it, but it's really coming together nicely. There's our new door. Jonathan recommended a very wide one (36"), in case old Bessie needs to come through that door one day.

I need a truck to haul to the dump that stuff that's leaning up against the wall. Grover can't hack it. (Milly, we'll save a piece of the musical/dancing stencil-work.)

And we're going to paint the yellow room, since that job is half complete. (See Advances Aplenty.) If we get through that, we'll also try to tackle painting the upstairs landing, the upstairs stairwell, and the front foyer. It'll all be the same color scheme. That'd be amazing if we could get that all done.

B) Dragonboat racing may be back on. It's not clear, but maybe on the 26th. The fanfare and revelry would be somewhat toned down, since all the performers and artists and what-not may not be able to participate, but the races could happen. More to come on that front.

C) Our new electrician came yesterday. He fixed a short in the light at the bottom of the basement stairs (reinstalling a temporary fixture), and he installed a new driveway light that matches the one on the front of the house. Check it out.

Now all we need is a black screen door to match the one on the front, and the house's curb appeal should be pretty nice - as long as you're willing to overlook our deteriorating front stoop... hee hee.

He also installed the new kitchen light fixture.

On top of that, he put two lights in the attic, so we can go up there when it's dark out, plus a switch to operate the lights and an outlet. The outlet should help when I finally get around to adding some additional flooring (really, just nailing down long wooden planks) and some simple shelving up there.

PS
This is funny to me and Sue. Oh, dear Providence, or oh dear, Providence.
