Triple Trips

Morning, Team. Happy Monday!

This weekend we completed the last of our triple trips. Three weekends ago, it was Philly, then last weekend, NYC. This weekend we were in DC from Friday to Sunday morning. We celebrated my sister Sarah's graduation from GW's Executive MBA program, and over the phone, we celebrated my nephew Eric's graduation from high school in Pittsburgh. We also saw some awesome pics of Sarah's trip to Australia.

When we got back to Providence yesterday at about 11, we did some stuff around the house. The weather was awesome. We were a little sniffly about it, but we had to trim off the dead parts of the burning bush.

In the process, we created a new woodpile. Brandon recommended not putting the woodpile against a wooden structure (like Ellen's garage, which you can view here from August last year), so we put it next to our own garage.

(Isn't it sort of neat how much the color of our house swings from purple to gray depending on the lighting?)

Since the ground there was uneven, I ended up using a layer of small rocks first (not pictured), which leveled out the brick base. Lots of little pill bugs, slugs and worms were frustrated that we moved the pile, but we think it looks lots better. Plus eventually, it might be located at the end of the walkway to the garage (out the yet-to-be-installed porch door).

There's still more wood-work to be done. We cut up the big pieces, but all the kindling remains in a gigantic tumbleweed-looking pile in the backyard.

This is how the Beatles are looking now. We're thinking we're going to plant one of them next to the burning bush, to see if it can fill in that area and see if the burning bush survives. Fingers crossed. Otherwise, I will become a one-man stump removal service.

Last night at 9PM I played my first soccer game in two-three years. It was eight on eight, and I played very well at sweeper, though I seem to have forgotten how to shoot. Fun times.

PS
This is what our side door looks like this morning. If you look close, you can see what I'm wearing to work. Hee hee.

The trimmed tree looks lovely, Rob. And the plants are now high enough for me to see w/o enlarging the picture -- nice work!

I'm scared that the trimmed tree is soon to die completely, but we're watching and waiting. More pics are coming of plant development, D-Glasser - befores and afters should be spectacular!
