Old Cedar Scraps

Happy Monday, everyone.

Chris the handyman wasn't able to come around, so we didn't tackle the attic pulldown as planned, but we did get lots of other stuff done.  We replaced a light fixture, had fun with spraypaint (tomorrow's post), and did a bunch of work in the backyard; that last effort was carried out in spite of the bit of *snow* that fell on Saturday.

So you remember all those rocks that Chris dug up (above). I mean, what is one supposed to do with those... throw them out? Gotta use them somehow.

And the owl bird feeder has been such an attraction for the neighborhood birds (common browns, cardinals, robins, doves, woodpeckers, bluejays, finches) and fun for us that we wanted to put together a bird house. We had some old cedar scraps in the garage. Who knows if it'll get inhabited.

The biggest rocks became seats in our new rock garden.

That wall in the back (plus the fence and tall bushes) makes things interesting sun/shade-wise, because at a certain point in the summer total shade turns into total sun. We'll see if we picked the right plants.

That backyard is really looking great, Rob. Nice work!

I will be interested to see if the birds like a feeder made of cedar (the cedar feeder per say)...

Thanks about the backyard! I made one critical miscalculation... the ornamental grasses I think may already be dead.

I wanted to make two plantings from each bucket of grass, so I cut the root-balls in half. It looks like they did not like that at all. I think I'll be heading back to the plant store to get some replacements this weekend. Trial and error. Trial and error.

About the bird house... no visitors yet (as far as I know), but we'll see. Fingers crossed!
